Bordeaux 2019 Reassessed
The last three vintage releases have been outstanding for the region, with 2019 our favourite if we had to pick one vintage. It’s the most homogenous in terms of quality, with fresh, balanced, opulent reds made across the appellations. The whites are very good as well.
The 2019s were released en primeur at fair prices because of the fragile market conditions during the first lockdown. The barrel samples we tried last year were impressive but tasting them out of the bottle gives us a more accurate, definitive reassessment.
We tried many at the recent Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux tasting in London. A selection of those that we felt represented great quality and value are offered below. They will reach our shores by next Spring.
